I'm not writing this to preach about all the wrongs of the world. I'm
also not going to make a list of all the mistakes people make in day to day life.
What I am saying is that there is a lot of discrimination going on in today's
society. There is great amount of built up racism, sexism, homophobia, and
other prejudices. If you don't beleive this is happening and choose to ignore my
plea for peace, I'd like to share with you an incident in which I was discriminated
against because of my religion, that occured not very long ago.

One day I was playing kick-ball with a lot of people at a local park. It was
pretty fun too. It came to my turn to kick. The pitcher threw the ball a little bit off,
but I still tried to kick it and I accidently missed the ball. No big deal. Until I heard
someone from the other team shout "She missed it because she's a Jew!" and
other slurs which suggested that Jews aren't good at anything. My whole team
was mean to me and treated me differently than the other players.

By telling you this, I don't expect everyone to change their views...but I am
asking you to read this with an open mind. I can't change the world but I can
atleast try. Saying that racism, homophobia, sexism, prejudice of religion,
xenophobia, etc. don't exist is completely ignorant. How can anyone even
begin to imagine that these problems are overwith if these incidents are
springing up at small parks, with a group of kids, in the middle of a kick-ball
game? Now imagine what it must be like in the buisiness and corporation world
or on the street everyday.

What I'm trying to say is these problems STILL occur, and something
definitely NEEDS to be done about it. Begin with yourself and move to others.
Spread the word! Help stomp out racism, sexism, homophobia, and ALL forms
of discrimination, prejudice, and hate.
